Here is a slideshow Sneak Peek of Keith & Bethany's Engagement Photo Session we recently shot in Downtown Nashville, TN. They both work at Vanderbilt Hospital and Keith pulled a few strings with his team - the flight crew - to gain us access to the helipad for a few shots. You have to see these pics!
It was so special to shoot at a place that is such a huge part of their life... and I have to admit it was kinda cool seeing the view of Nashville from up there too! ;) Keith & Bethany are very cool, laid back and easy to get along with and I know their Wedding will be a blast!

Wow what a CAKE! - Nashville, TN: Event "Just Desserts"

My friend, Brooke O'Dell, of Ice This, recently created a cake for and event honoring Lt. Gov Ron Ramsey, who will be running for the Governor of Tennessee this year. The event was called "Just Deserts". Brooke was asked to create a cake and had me photograph it before it was displayed at the Nashville event. I was in awe of her talent once again and was ecstatic when she told me it sold for $3500! If you are in need of a spectacular cake creation, you need "Ice This". Not only do I loooove her company name... her cakes are incredibly fun to take pictures of and taste good too :)

The winners were just announced on FranklinIs.com for the 2009 Sizzle Awards... and Evin Photography came in 1st Place for Best Photography in Williamson County! I would like to thank my family, my clients, the academy :) haha Seriously, thank you so much to everyone who voted! I feel incredibly humbled and honored.
My sister-in-law Autumn, accepted the award on my behalf at the award's dinner while I was at WPPI (wedding photography convention, in Las Vegas). It had been a long day at the convention and the news totally lifted me up.

I'd also like to congratulate my friends at A Moment's Peace & Pickles and Ice Cream for their wins! Thanks to everyone once again! Here's to a great 2010!

Baby Olivia Newborn Photos - Huntsville, AL

My Samford University college roomate and one of my best friends, Rachel, and her husband Paul just celebrated the birth of Baby Olivia! They now live in Huntsville, AL and I couldn't wait to get down there to see Olivia and have the honor of doing her newborn portrait session. Olivia is now one month old and I can already tell she will be a heart breaker by the way she has her daddy wrapped around her finger :) Congratulations Rachel & Paul!

WPPI Convention

The WPPI (Wedding Portrait Photographers International) Convention is taking place in 23 days and counting! Each year I have contemplated going but it is usually only a passing thought since in the past I have either been shooting a wedding, on a family trip, or pregnant. :) This year none of those is taking place but for some reason I hadn't given it a thought until a few weeks ago.
Over the last few weeks, I've had multiple conversations with several photographer friends that are either going...or wish they were. WPPI keeps being brought up, to the point I even found a photographer that offered a FREE pass if I blogged about it! At this point I feel so lead to go to WPPI I don't think I can escape it!
Guilt has still set in about having to leave the hubby with our 15 month-old for several days...poor guy just let me go on a girls weekend, where I got snowed in having to stay an extra day, and now I'm going to leave them again! But Luke has been (as he always is) SUPER supportive and encourages me toward anything I want to do that will help me in what I love....photography & business.
So, I am praying for that FREE pass and if the Lord wants me to go so bad I know he'll make it happen and there will be a reason.
Sooo I guess it's 23 days and counting... :)

More Family Photos in the SNOW!

Ok....I ended up taking 675 photos of the family in the Ohio snow, so I had to do a second post to show you more :)

Photo Tip: When shooting in a snow shower, the further away you are from your subject the more flakes that will get in the way. The heavier the snow the closer you'll need to be.
Ex. The above photo was of more people so I had to stand further back, the snow was also coming down pretty hard so there were a lot of flakes in the way. But I still think we got some good shots :)

The Tools: I was shooting with a 70-200 lens on a Canon 5D...using the lens hood of course, don't want those pesky snow flakes on the lens!

Family Photos in the SNOW!

Last weekend we visited Luke's extended family in Ohio. While at his Uncle's cabin for a family party, the snow really started coming down. Sooo.... I grabbed Luke's siblings (my favorite models) and other relatives and ended up spending 3-4 hours shooting outside! I felt like I was doing a GAP photo shoot, haha :) I had a blast and I think the family did too. But I will have to say, next time I will pack warmer boots!

Cohen's 11 month Portraits - Franklin, TN

Last Saturday before I had a family portrait photoshoot at the Franklin Factory, Luke and I took Cohen to the Gentry Farm just outside Downtown Franklin, TN. What a great place! Cohen did awesome and stood for a couple photos even though he isn't quite walking yet. He's now 11 months old and we can't believe how the year has flown by. We are planning a super fun Halloween/B'day party for him to invite his baby friends to since he will be 1-year old on October 30th. Looking forward to his next photo session where I'm going to let him dig into a birthday cake. Check back soon for more pics!

Michael and Lisa are such a stunning couple- it was a joy to shoot them! They were married in a gorgeous location- the garden of The Hermitage, which was the home of Andrew Jackson! Such a unique location! The rain held off and the overcast sky gave the photos some great colors with little shadows & also cooled things off for their guests! Noreen and Justin's Wedding - Gaylord Opryland, Nashville, TN

I first met Noreen and Justin at the Premier Bride Bridal Show at the Nashville Convention Center. I knew they were going to be a fun couple as soon as they told me they were learning the dance from the movie "Dirty Dancing" to perform as their first dance at their wedding! It was a smashing hit! Also, at their Gaylord Opryland reception a bird flew head on into the wall of windows that were directly behind the bride and groom during the toasts causing a loud bang, knocking the bird out cold. There were gasps from the guests and Noreen & Justin busted out in laughter. I wish many more years of fun and laughter for you two! Keep it up! :)

Laura and I have gone to the same church for years and have grown up together, so it was SO neat to be a part of her wedding day! I have shot at their ceremony location, Owen Chapel, multiple times. What a fun couple & a hilarious bridal party! Ben & Jenna are so precious with each other and you can tell they are so in love. Their reception took place in the church's gym, which was completely TRANSFORMED with lighting. It was a stellar idea that enriched the classy event. And I can't forget to mention that their groomsmen followed their limo on razer scooters as they drove away. :) Too funny!

Jerry & Hannah were married last weekend in New Orleans, LA. We traveled down a day early to sight-see, scout shooting locations and spend time with the couple shooting their Engagement photos the day before the wedding. Jerry & Hannah are both from New Orleans and it was so much fun walking the streets of the French Quarter with them, hearing what they love about their city! Arriving early Friday morning to the French Quarter was definitely the right move. We had the streets to ourselves, beat the heat, then Luke and I spent the day enjoying more of the Louisiana city that brought Jerry & Hannah together! Jordan & Allie's Wedding - The Factory, Downtown Franklin, TN

My little sister's MARRIED!! I was so excited for this day, but was most excited for Allie to marry THE Jordan Miller! They were married on June 27, 2009 at The Factory in Downtown Franklin, TN. I was the matron-of-honor so my partner, Chris and his wife Adrienne, shot the wedding and gave me the best gift -- allowing me to focus completely on my sister and leave the photos totally to them!

Allie planned an incredibly elegant wedding with intricate details everywhere that left guests breathless. I have shot at The Factory in Franklin multiple times and Allie took on a great concept I had seen before, having guests sit at the reception tables for the ceremony since they both took place in the same room. I highly recommend it!

Welcome to the family Jordan! I couldn't have asked for a better brother-in-law or husband for Al.

Such a cool place for a stellar girl.

Zach & Rachel's Wedding - Scarritt Bennett, Nashville, TN

Zach and Rachel were married at Scarritt Bennett in Nashville, TN on Sunday, July 12th. Rain poured down (sideways at times), with flooding even causing the closer of 8th Ave just outside their reception at Mercy Lounge. But they are still married! We were able to get some incredible shots and a huge number of guests celebrated with them, probably the most I have ever seen on a dance floor.

This wedding was a precious one for me. I used to babysit for Rachel and was there during the time she lost her father. To photograph her 3 uncles walking her down the aisle was a moment I will never forget. More importantly during the ceremony was a worship time where Zach and Rachel with hands lifted, praised our heavenly Father! The Lord has truly bound a special couple and I am so excited to see Zach and Rachel's life continue together as they follow the perfect path the Lord is setting before them.

Allie's Bridal Portrait - Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, Nashville, TN

I had dreamed for over two years as to where I would do my little sister, Allie's, bridal portraits. She is a gorgeous red head and I had pictured poses, how her hair would look, cool locations, etc. When it came time for Allie's portraits, they chose Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, which I couldn't have been happier with. I was ready...but the weather wasn't....we had to post-pone due to rain 4 times! Then when the day finally arrived, my light fell over causing me to have to shoot all natural light, not my first choice, but it all worked out. Allie was a more beautiful bride than I
could have ever imagined. Thanks Al for giving me some great stuff for my portfolio! :)

Dustin & Whitney's Wedding- Lexington, KY

Whitney is my cousin and she and Dustin couldn't be more perfect for each other. It was a destination wedding for me since my primary photography studio is located in Franklin, TN, but the event took place in their hometown of Lexington, KY. Their wedding was elegant and they had the most precious flower girls I have ever seen. Dustin & Whitney have given me some of the best stories... The fire alarm went off twice during the reception, in Lexington, KY and they embraced the moment, jumping on the fire truck for the perfect photo-op! While shooting their engagement photos in Downtown Franklin, TN, a person drove by and yelled out her window, "Kiss her real good!!". It was Wynona Judd :) Dustin & Whit, I hope your life together brings you many more wonderful stories.

Well it was about time for another Cohen photo shoot, so why not do it on my birthday while enjoying the day in Downtown Franklin! It is always an ordeal trying to be mom and photographer...so I had to rely heavily on Luke for baby posing, chasing, and all things noisy in order to keep Cohen's attention. :) Not always the best job... but Luke gladly & patiently gave me a whole hour of support, which enabled me to get some of my most favorite photos of Cohen yet! Today he is 9 months old and it's been worth every minute.

Today is my new little sister-in-law's 3rd Birthday and her first birthday to celebrate in America! We celebrated her sister Sophie's 10th B'day in Destin, FL, so we thought Abby deserved some special attention herself...and boy did she love every minute of it! ...And I have to tell you so did I! Abby gave me some of the most hilarious faces and had us laughing the entire shoot. So glad we were able to capture her 3rd Birthday in style :)

The day we were waiting for finally arrived- Jessica Miller, my image director and famous blogger Budget Savvy Bride, married Eric Bishop who attended Brentwood High School with me. They tied the knot at The Sam Davis Home in Smyrna, TN. The wedding was shot by my partner photographer Chris Scott and his wife Adrienne. Chris was able to capture the entire essence of the wedding- from the many intricate details to the exquisite location to the stunning bride! Our friend and makeup artist extraordinaire Amy Lynn Larwig did Jessica's makeup and she looked flawless! Tara Stouder Milam of Lavish Events did coordination and flowers for the big day! Many of our Brentwood friends were in attendance- I so wish I could have been at this wedding, but Chris and Adrienne Scott represented Evin Photography well! Mary is one of my sorority sisters from college, so I was very excited to shoot her wedding! It was like a reunion with alot of old friends! Her family was so sweet and their wedding was precious. Mary was a beautiful bride!

Their reception took place at Old Natchez Country Club- we got this beautiful shot right before heading into the reception!

Craig and Shannie's Nashville reception was such a blast! It was so fun to see all the folks from the beach again- it was like a reunion! The reception was held at The University Club of Nashville, and Mary Alice and her team at A Delightful Day put together AMAZING decor!

Candy Buffets seem to be really hot right now- I thought this one looked amazing!

The dahlias that Mary Alice and her team used throughout the reception were gorgeous! I think I've found my new favorite flower!

We decided to get creative with some rock candy and got this great ring shot!

A Delightful Day did a great job with the decor- I especially loved this lounge style couch seating in the courtyard. So fresh and modern! It made for some great portraits!

The bridal party learned a special choreographed dance and did a surprise performance for their guests to a medley of 'Soulja Boy' and other popular songs. It was great and they looked like they had a blast doing it!

I just love this picture for some reason! :)

They looked like they were having so much fun that I just had to join in! Jessica of Budget Savvy Bride assisted me on this wedding, and she caught this shot of me bustin' a move to the 'Cupid Shuffle'... I just can't resist that song! This wedding was SO much fun! Maternity Photography Session- Franklin, TN- Meredith

I grew up with Meredith and Joel so I was excited to get the chance to take her maternity photos! Her husband Joel served in Iraq and is now working for the Fire Department, so their idea was for Meredith to take photos in his fireman and army gear- such a cool idea! Well I just had to share some photos I snapped today after the storm rolled through Nashville. Our neighbor has gorgeous flowers that I have been admiring outside our front window and so I dressed up Cohen and out we went. He is still getting used to the grass as well as stitting up. Easter Bunny Children Photos - Franklin, TN

This was Evin Photography's first year for Easter Bunny Portraits. Several friends of mine expressed interest in having some "different" photos done for Easter, rather than those at the mall. So....I adopted a LIVE bunny! Yes...I did. I found Bun Bun (and later named our model Heidi Klum) at the Williamson County Animal Rescue in Franklin, TN. Once the photos were finished, a local school teacher adopted the bunny from me and offered to share her again next year for bunny photos. What an experience all around! :) This year was a success, and next year promises to be even better!

DESTINation Wedding - Craig & Shannie Destin, FL

Here is a little sneak peek of Craig Blackmer & Shannie Phillips Destination Wedding that took place last Saturday, March 21st in Destin, FL. The couple rented a house where the bridal party & family stayed. The weekend included plenty of relaxing time on the beach with some entertaining scimboarding, a private rehearsal dinner at Pompano Joe's, an intimate ceremony on the white sandy Mirmar beach and of course Photos photos photos! The Bridal Party portraits were shot in the Baytown Warf area of SanDestin. Craig & Shannie also had pre-planned for a quick change after the ceremony (Shannie wearing her mother's dress), so they could get some fun photos of them jumping into the (freezing cold) ocean...which then ended in them jumping into the beach house's heated pool! :) What I didn't plan on was for me to end up in the ocean as well... but I'll do whatever it takes to get the shot!! I'm am looking forward to the reunion with the family & bridal party. We had a blast!!

Brad & Linsey tied the knot this past Saturday at Monelle's at Historic Lillie Belles Venue in Downtown Franklin, TN. Here are a few photos from the wedding. Welcome Home!

Luke's parents just brought home our 4 newest brother & sisters, our adopted siblings from over seas. Sophie (9), Izzie & Zach (7), and Abby (3). We are head over heels in love! They arrived on Feb. 28th and we have been spending a lot of family time loving on the kids and introducing them to all of their firsts, like ice cream! ...they didn't like how cold it was :) I took a photo shoot last Thursday of all of Beth & Jon's kids, with more pictures coming after our family beach trip in April. Baby Caden came down to the studio to have his first birthday portraits taken and we surprised him with a birthday cake! He was so excited to tear into it- as you can see, he did a pretty good job! Yes...I was nervous to shoot the wedding of another photographer...but then once we got started we had a blast! This photo was taken at last weekend's wedding for Jillyn & Brian at Lillie Belles in Downtown Franklin. I usually do a shot with the rings on a flower, but this weekend my partner Chris Scott was assisting me so we decided to get creative.
There were some gorgeous roses floating in water filled vases around the reception. Chris setup his flash to the left as a slave to mine and then he counted and dropped the rings into the vase. We are sooo happy with this shot! Hope you like it :)

What a blast we had in Memphis, TN this weekend for Brad & Amy's Wedding! We have become so close to this family. Shooting the wedding of Drew & Julie, Amy's brother, last year in Knoxville now heading to the other end of the state for the Mills big day! From the BBQ at the Commissary to dancing to rocky top at the reception it was definitely a fabulous weekend and GORGEOUS wedding.
